Being initially inspired by the shadows of trees she spotted on the grass, she did a lot of studying a method that didn't present the chosen object in a two-dimensional form on canvas. When the objects are alive or perishable like fruits and people that they transform into a picture of themselves. Alexa Meade's works are fleeting however the photograph is what remains. Both photographic and painting methods are tightly interwoven and result in nothing but a two-dimensional flat space which is able to achieve trompe-l'oeil. In this, the third dimension can only be seen in specific areas, such as near the eyes, or near hair. Sometimes, Meade integrates her painted models into the 3D world around them, allowing the models to be part of the self-created universe. This way, the line between photography and painting is dissolved.
